YouTube Music now recommends speakers

You can now ask YouTube Music to make suggestions regarding which of your Cast-enabled speakers it thinks you’d like to stream music to. In the previous method, the app would merely list all of the Cast-enabled devices on your network in alphabetical order. This new method, on the other hand, is a significant improvement over the previous method. Even if there is only one speaker that you use on a regular basis, you may have to search through a list of up to six different speakers if you are anything like us. Now, ChromeUnboxed has discovered that attempting to Cast from the YouTube Music app will bring up a new menu, which will highlight a “Suggested” device above the standard alphabetical list of devices. In an email to The Verge, Paul Pennington, a spokesperson for Google, confirmed the new feature and explained that suggestions are determined by the user’s activity, their device’s history, and the type of device being used. The first of these is a requirement that apps that offer paid online group services use its in-app payment system. The second is a requirement that mandates developers offer easy account deletions (including stored personal data) within any app that allows users to create an account. Apple has stated that both of these requirements will go into effect on June 30. It should be noted that the regulation concerning online group services (such as classes and events) predates the WWDC 2021 set of modifications; however, Apple has postponed the implementation of this regulation on three separate occasions. The first delay occurred in 2020 as a result of Facebook’s complaints that it would have an unfair impact on vulnerable small businesses. A second delay occurred in the spring of 2021. It was supposed to go into effect this past January, along with the policy that would permit users to delete their accounts from within an application. However, neither of these things happened. However, on January 22nd, Apple announced that it would be pushing the deadline for both changes back a few more months, to June 30th. The company stated that this would give developers more time to update their apps, and we don’t anticipate any further delays now that Apple has reminded developers. Researchers may have found a way to chill your components without the use of these slotted hunks of metal that are used by default to keep components cool on your PC and practically every other electronic device. This is exciting news because heatsinks are the default when it comes to keeping components cool on your PC and practically every other electronic device. A new and more streamlined technique for cooling electronic devices is described in an article published on Science Daily (via Tom’s Hardware), which describes how the technique involves coating the entire device with poly and copper. If you are not familiar with heatsinks, they are typically made of copper or aluminium, which are both metals that serve as thermal conductors. If you do not know what a heatsink is, you can read more about it here. They frequently come with a number of metal fins that are designed to pull and spread heat away from the essential components on your device in order to assist in preventing those components from overheating. A fan located nearby then expels the heat that has been generated by the system. Traditional heat sinks can be replaced with “a conformal coating of copper” and “an electrical insulating layer of poly” that is spread across the entire device, according to a study that was published in Nature Electronics by a group of researchers from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of California, Berkeley. The study was conducted jointly. When compared to heatsinks, the researchers say that this method of cooling provides “very similar performance, or even better performance.” Because it also does away with the requirement for a cumbersome piece of metal, this could save a significant amount of space inside electronic devices. It’s possible that the coating will render the heat sink completely useless. Even though I would miss the cool shields that manufacturers make to hide the heatsinks on motherboards, I think that if they weren’t there, designers would have even more freedom to express their creativity in the way that a variety of components look and how they function.

Hyundai builds EV and battery plants in Georgia

In Savannah, Georgia, Hyundai is constructing facilities that will be solely devoted to the production of electric vehicles (EVs) and batteries. This will be Hyundai’s first plant in the United States that will produce only EVs (via CNBC). The South Korean automobile manufacturer will invest a total of $5.5 billion in the construction of the new facilities, and it will also receive an additional investment of $1 billion from its suppliers. Construction on the 2,923-acre site is scheduled to begin in the early part of 2023, and Hyundai anticipates that production will begin there in the first half of 2025. The electric vehicle factory is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles each year and will result in the creation of approximately 8,100 new jobs. Hyundai does not provide any details regarding the electric vehicle models that will be manufactured at the plant; rather, the company only suggests that a “wide range” of models will be produced in Georgia. However, the business does mention that the battery-building facility “will be established through a strategic partnership.” The company does not reveal very much else about the facility. The outlet was also informed by a source who was familiar with the situation that production could start with the Hyundai Ioniq and later expand to include a Kia EV pickup that has not yet been announced in the year 2026. “The future of transportation is in the Peach State as we announce the largest project in our state’s history,” Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia said in a statement. “This will deliver high-quality jobs on the cutting edge of mobility to hardworking Georgians.” Hyundai has stated that it plans to invest more than $10 billion in the United States by the year 2025 to develop a variety of technologies. These technologies include autonomous driving, robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced air mobility. In addition to the new facilities in Georgia, Hyundai has made this announcement. The $5.5 billion that has been set aside for the company’s new electric vehicle plant is included in that fund. This past week, the state of Georgia reached an agreement with Rivian in which the state agreed to provide the company with tax incentives totaling $1.5 billion in exchange for the company relocating to Georgia. Voyager 1 is the man-made object in space that is currently the most distant from Earth. It is currently 14.5 billion miles away. However, the likelihood that strange things will occur with the spacecraft Voyager 1 increases in direct proportion to the distance between it and Earth. The attitude articulation and control system, also known as the AACS, of the spacecraft is behaving strangely right now. It is the system’s job to keep the vehicle oriented properly in space and to point the high-gain antenna of the probe in the right direction so that it can send and receive signals from Earth. The AACS appears to be operating normally, at least insofar as the engineers are concerned. However, according to NASA, the data that it is returning does not accurately describe what the system is currently doing. In a press release, NASA wrote that the data “may appear to be randomly generated, or does not reflect any possible state the AACS could be in.” As an example, “the data may appear to be randomly generated.” In every other respect, Voyager 1 appears to be operating normally. NASA reports that it is collecting the required scientific data and is in communication with the engineering team. Additionally, it is performing as expected in terms of data collection. And the problem with the AACS has not caused the spacecraft to enter safe mode, which is a type of operating procedure in which the spacecraft turns off the majority of its instruments and only focuses on the functions that it needs to perform in order to stay alive. In other words, the group is pushing forward despite the fact that they are simultaneously attempting to figure out what is going on.
